EATING DISORDER THERAPY
Family Based Treatment (FBT)
First line approach for treating eating disorders (ED) in teens. FBT focuses on empowering caregivers to support their loved one to recovery through meal support and symptoms interruption. FBT is a three phase treatment that involves the whole family.
Emotion-Focused Family Therapy (EFFT)
FBT is the WHAT of treating eating disorder in young people and EFFT is the HOW. EFFT supports caregivers to develop advanced skills as they engage in efforts to support their loved ones recovery.
Specialized Supportive Clinical Management
Includes psycho-education, collaborative goal setting, and supportive psychotherapy with intent of moving towards change in a client-led way.
Motivational Enhancement (ME), Cognitive Behavioural Therapy( CBT), Dialectical Behavioural Therapy (DBT), Acceptance and Commitment Therapy (ACT), and Mindfulness Self-Compassion are often used as an adjunct therapy to eating disorder specific treatments.

Finding Food and Body Freedom
Therapy designed to support you to improve your relationship with food, body, and physical activity.
An integration of Intuitive Eating principles, clinical approaches to decreasing dieting and disordered eating behaviours, and body image focused therapies are used to support you towards food and body freedom!
In addition to therapy sessions, there will be optional workbooks, podcasts, books, and other resources to support your jounrey to becoming an intuitive eater.
THE COUNSELLING PROCESS
Step 1: DISCOVERY CALL
During this no-obligation free call, you have the opportunity to ask questions and together we can assess if we are a good
Step 2: DISORDERED EATING ASSESSMENT
Assessment will include gathering information about eating and exercise behaviours, development of the eating problem, and history of treatment, as well as gathering information about general mental health. For adolescents the assessment will include family/caregivers. The assessment typically takes 50-70 minutes.
Step 3: TREATMENT PLAN
Once assessment is complete, we will collaborate on treatment plan and establish treatment team. Throughout therapy the therapist will collaborate with your treatment team (eg. doctor, paediatrician, nurse practitioner, psychiatrist, dietitian, school support etc.) to ensure consistency of care.
Step 4: THERAPY
The therapeutic model, number of sessions, and duration of therapy varies depending on eating disorder symptoms, longevity of eating disorder, previous treatment, readiness for change, and concurrent mental health challenges.
Step 5: ENDING WELL
Therapeutic goals have been met, whether that be increased quality of life, becoming an intuitive eating, or full recovery from an eating disorders.
